Terms of Service.
Welcome to Moonix! These are our terms of service. They're written to be as clear as possible because we want you to understand the agreement you're making by using our tool.
Last Updated: June 23, 2025
1. About Our Service and Its Technology
In short: Moonix has two different versions. The free one is based on open-source software, and the Pro version is our own completely separate creation.
The core of our free service is, and only is, a modified derivative work based on the amazing open-source "Boronide Obfuscator," originally created by Herrtt. It's distributed under the AGPL-3.0 license, and we're grateful for this foundation. You can see the original base source here.
The 'Pro' version is completely different. It's a proprietary technology we developed from scratch. It does not use, or derive from, Boronide or any other third-party obfuscation code.
2. Being a Responsible User
In short: Please use our service for good. Don't upload malware, break the law, or try to hack our servers.
You are responsible for the code you upload ("User Content"). We trust you to use Moonix legally and ethically. This means you agree not to use it to obfuscate malware, infringe on copyrights you don't own, or attempt to harm our service or other users. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate this trust, to keep the platform safe for everyone.
3. Ownership and Your Rights to Use the Output
In short: You always own your code. The 'Pro' output is yours to use commercially without restrictions from us. For the 'Free' output, you must comply with its original open-source license.
Let's be very clear about how you can use the obfuscated code. For the code generated by the 'Pro' version, you are granted a simple, royalty-free license to use that specific output for any purpose, including commercial projects. You own the output.
For the output of the free service, the situation is different. Because it is based on the AGPL-3.0 licensed Boronide Obfuscator, the output is subject to the terms of that license. It is your sole responsibility to understand and adhere to your obligations under the AGPL-3.0 license. This license has specific requirements, and we cannot grant you rights that we do not have.
4. Privacy and Data Handling
In short: We respect your privacy. We only collect the data we need, and we delete your scripts immediately after processing.
Your privacy is paramount. We only collect essential data like your email address for account management. Any scripts you upload are used solely for the obfuscation process and are permanently deleted from our servers immediately after that process completes. For a detailed breakdown of our data practices, please read our Privacy Policy.
5. Our Promises (and What We Can't Promise)
In short: We do our best to provide a great service, but we can't guarantee it will be perfect, always online, or that the obfuscation is unbreakable. The service is provided "as is."
We've built Moonix to be a powerful tool, but software has its limits. We provide the service on an "as is" and "as available" basis. This means we don't make legal guarantees that it will always be available, bug-free, or that the obfuscation is a 100% impenetrable shield. It is a deterrent designed to make reverse engineering significantly more difficult, not impossible.
6. Limitation of Our Liability (The "What If" Clause)
In short: We don’t expect things to go seriously wrong, but if a problem with our paid service causes you direct financial loss, our maximum liability is capped at 50% of the fees you paid us in the last six months.
As a small project, we have to set reasonable limits on our financial liability. If something we do (or fail to do) directly causes you a provable financial loss, our aggregate liability shall in no event exceed fifty percent (50%) of the total fees you paid for the Service in the six (6) month period immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so the foregoing limitation may not fully apply to you.
7. Your Responsibility if You Cause a Problem
In short: If your illegal use of our service gets us into legal trouble, you'll be responsible for covering our costs.
If your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these terms (for example, by uploading copyrighted material you don't own), results in a legal claim against us, you agree to cover our costs, including reasonable legal fees, related to that claim.
8. Account Termination
In short: You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend your account if you break the rules.
You have the right to terminate your account at any time through your account settings. We also reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you are found to be in violation of these terms, to protect the integrity of the Service.
9. General Legal Provisions
In short: Some standard legal stuff to make sure this agreement is clear and enforceable, and to account for things beyond our control.
- Severability: If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining parts will still be valid.
- Entire Agreement: These terms (along with our Privacy Policy) constitute the entire agreement between us.
- Force Majeure: We won't be held liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, like a major natural disaster, war, or catastrophic failure of internet infrastructure.
10. Changes to These Terms
In short: We may update these terms. We’ll always post the latest version here.
As our Service evolves, we may need to update these terms. We'll post the revised terms here and update the "Last Updated" date. Continuing to use Moonix after changes means you agree to the new terms.
11. Governing Law
In short: Any legal disputes will be handled in the home jurisdiction of the project's creator.
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the principal operator of the Service resides, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
